I. Booking Condition

  • Lao PTM Travel operates mainly from its sales office in Luang Prabang, Laos.
  • Bookings for other countries than Laos are immediately passed on to responsible operation offices.
  • Walk In Clients who book their tours in Luang Prabang have to pay their trip prior to departure in Cash USD, LAK, Thai Baht, Euro or by Visa Card (3% for bank charges). Any banking fees for transfers have to be paid by the sender/client/partner
  • The daily payment follow the Bank exchange rate.

II. Cancellation of Booking

  1. 20 % of the total cost of the tour have to be paid as advance for bookings. You will be invoiced for the balance amount that has to be paid no later than four weeks before the day of departure.
  2. If the balance is not paid in the specific time (unless previously arranged with in writing) we reserve the right to cancel your bookings
  3. In case of cancellation the following amounts will be deducted.
    4 weeks or less before departure : -20% advance paid will be forfeited.
    3 weeks or less before departure : -50% of the total amount paid will be forfeited.
    2 weeks or less before departure : -75% of the total amount paid will be forfeited.
    10 days or less before departure : - 100% of the total amount paid will be forfeited.
  4. Should we cancel your holiday, your payment (whatever paid) will be refunded in full.
    In case of cancellation due to act of God, reasonable expenses incurred by us will be forfeited and the balance refunded to you.
  5. In case of any increase of tariff or change in the exchange rate, we reserve the right to alter the prices. If prices increase by more than 10% of the total cost, you can cancel the tour and will be refunded the full amount (Minimum 4 weeks before departure). If bookings are made within 4 weeks of departure, changes in the tour rates (as per change in the currency exchange rate) will be made till the date of the invoice.
  6. In case of any misconduct or delay on your part, we will not be responsible for penalties charged by the authorities.
  7. The Lao PTM Travel, our staff and/or agents will not be held responsible for, and shall be exempt from liability in respect to any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or inconvenience to any person and/or his luggage and/or any other personal property, whenever the same shall arise from, or be occasioned by the negligence of the Lao PTM Travel, our staff, and our agents, or any other person directly or indirectly in the service of employment of the Lao PTM Travel, or under any circumstances whatsoever.
  8. In case of delay caused by you in commencing the tour, we will continue the tour as per planned in the itinerary for that particular date.
  9. Any change in accommodation or mode of travel due to unavoidable circumstances or accident will not be compensated for as long as the basic tour is not altered.
  10. In your personal interests, kindly get yourself insured for your travel.
  11. If you wish the tour to be preponed or postponed, or any other alteration to be made in the itinerary, the confirmations will depend on availability of reservations. Reasonable expenditure incurred by us for the same will be levied on you.

III. Cancellation for walk in clients

  1. For cancellation of a bookings (only day trip adventure packages) done in Luang Prabang office on the start day itself, 50% will be charged.
  2. No show will be charged by 100%.
  3. Please wait for our pick up service between 8:30-9:00am at the reception of your Hotel or pick up point, otherwise we will leave without giving refunds. In case of missed pick ups from our side, please contact of our offices immediately.

IV. What should you bring

  • Valid tourist Visa (you can get it on the border - airport)
  • Passport Photos for visa + cash for the visa (about 31US$)
  • Long sleeved shirts and long pants for entry to any temples, and for protection the mosquitoes
  • Cool breathable clothing, some warm stuff for evening
  • Comfortable walking shoes, sandals.
  • Strong insect repellent, Deet medicated preferred

V. Money

Travellers cheques and credit cards can be cashed in Vientiane where most currencies can also be exchanged. Some larger provincial capitals can also take travellers cheques and credit cards, and money-changers often offer better rates on cash than banks. There are now ATM machines in Luang Prabang and in Vientiane. When heading into the countryside, it's best to carry a combination of local currency (KIP) and low/medium denomination dollar bills. Faded or torn dollar bills won't be accepted anywhere so don't take them from anyone. We can take you to change money before your trip if you'd like some help with this.

VI. To come in Luang Prabang

To Luang Prabang – by Airline:

  1. Luang Prabang is linked with major cities from neighboring countries.
    * Luang Prabang - Chiang Mai (Thailand), daily connections
    * Luang Prabang - Bangkok (Thailand), daily connections
    * Luang Prabang - Hanoi (Vietnam), by QV daily and Vietnam Airlines daily also
    * Luang Prabang - Siemreap by QV on 1-4-6 (Monday, Thursday, Saturday)
  2. Luang Prabang is connected to other cities in Laos
    * Luang Prabang - Vientiane (up to 3 times a day and up to 8 times a day for Lao New Year festival)
    * Luang Prabang - Pakse by QV on 1-4-6

To Luang Prabang – From the South by Bus:

  1. You find daily buses from Vientiane to Luang Prabang The ride is scenic and takes about 8-9 hrs.
  2. Also from Vang Vieng you find daily minibuses going up north to Luang Prabang. The ride is need about 6 hrs.

To Luang Prabang – From the North by Bus or by Boat :

  1. Coming from northern Thailand you may catch buses from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and other cities to get to the border town of Chiang Khong (Thai side). From there, cross the Mekong river to Houei Xay (Bokeo Province). Here we have Lao PTM Travel (Houei Xay Branch) you can relate with our office or you find slow boats down stream to Pakbeng and further to Luang Prabang which takes 2 days. Visas are available on the border.
  2. If you have not enough time (and if you don't mind little risky trips), you can get speed boats that join Luang Prabang in one day (less than 10 hours)
  3. From all northern Laos cities there are daily buses to Luang Prabang as well. For example from Houei xay to Luang Namtha province to Udom Xai province and to Luang Prabang.
